What is this program?
The Autism and Mental Health Service provides assessment for clients in two circumstances:
- Assessment of co-occurring mental health conditions in the context of autism
- Assessment of co-occurring autism in the context of mental health disorders
There are no treatment options within this service as it is consultation only.

(must be able to travel to CAMH (Toronto); assessments are in-person)

Do I need a referral?
- Primary care referral (i.e. Doctor or Nurse Practitioner)
- Referral through Access CAMH: CAMH Referral Form
- Hospital referral
Are there any people who aren’t the best fit for this program?
While this program aims to help everyone, there are some that have needs this program doesn’t cover, including:
- Cognitive level below the average range (if known from a cognitive assessment) Unable to use language to communicate
- Requiring crisis care
- Parent/caregiver not available to participate in assessment as informant on early development
